ABOUT ROMI

I'm a multi-passionate Digital Artist that has been exploring various types of media and different industries for about 18 years. My experience ranges from photography, to marketing and social media, to video editing and content creation. I graduated from The Art Institute of California Orange County with a Bachelor’s in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics, and was fortunate enough to work in Hollywood’s entertainment industry upon graduating. While I found this opportunity quite exciting and I learned a great deal, I quickly realized there was something missing for me there, and it wasn’t a path I wanted to pursue long term.

When I moved back to San Diego in 2014, I started to focus heavily on photography. I love capturing portraits of people and promoting small businesses, artists and causes that I believe in, so I started freelancing and building my portfolio while I looked for a full time job. This is when I realized that I needed to expand my knowledge in business. As an artist, math was never a subject of my interest, but I have always had a very analytical mind. I love learning, organizing data, creating new proccesses, troubleshooting and teaching, so I decided to dive into the world of finance and operations for a while. I wanted to learn the ins and outs of running a business, so I could confidently grow my own projects as well as help other companies and organizations I care about be successful. I worked as an Accounting Manager for six years, until I eventually made my way back to a full time creative job.

In 2018, my life took a bit of a spin once again, and I started working with my sister on an upcycling project called The Bountiful Bag. What started as an innovative fashion project for craft beer aficionados, soon turned into a big passion of ours that opened our eyes to the world of sustainability and the need for large scale recycling solutions in the craft beverage industry. Since then, I have been involved in the inception of two environmental nonprofits that are helping divert waste in San Diego: Sustainability Is Sexy and San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative, and I also worked as Marketing Manager at Misadventure & Co., a sustainable distillery in Vista from 2020 to 2022.

As an artist, I still love doing photo sessions, renting out my photo booth for events and parties, and creating art for my own personal satisfaction, but ultimately, I want to use my voice and platform to promote the businesses and organizations I love, as well as engage with my community on the importance of taking care of our planet.
